Myomectomy / Fibroids Management

Myomectomy is a surgical procedure to remove fibroids, which are non-cancerous growths that can develop in or on the uterus. Fibroids can vary in size and may cause various symptoms, making myomectomy a common treatment option for women who experience significant issues due to these growths.

Why is it Done?
Myomectomy is performed to treat fibroids when they cause problems such as:
    –Heavy or painful periods
    –Pelvic pain or pressure
    –Issues with pregnancy or fertility
–Frequent urination or difficulty emptying the bladder

Symptoms of Fibroids
Women may notice symptoms such as:
–Abnormal menstrual bleeding (very heavy or prolonged periods)
–Lower abdominal swelling or feeling of fullness
    –Pain during intercourse
–Changes in bathroom habits due to pressure on the bladder

Treatment Options
There are different approaches to myomectomy, depending on the size and location of the fibroids:
1)Abdominal myomectomy: A larger incision is made in the abdomen to remove the fibroids.
Laparoscopic myomectomy: Small incisions are made, and a camera and instruments are used to remove the fibroids with less recovery time.
2)Hysteroscopic myomectomy: This is done through the vagina and cervix, allowing the doctor to remove fibroids inside the uterus without any external cuts.
3)Recovery from myomectomy typically takes a few weeks, and the procedure can help relieve symptoms and improve quality of life. In some cases, women may still need follow-up treatments or monitoring, as fibroids can sometimes grow back.
